The end of 2019 and the first months of 2020 are crucial to understand the direction of the country’s labor market, where, according to the 2020 Remuneration Study conducted by PageGroup Mexico, there are clear challenges and opportunities.

The effects of the last change of presidential administration, the evolution of the millennial generation to much more strategic jobs, as well as the digital transition of many companies are key elements to understand the trends, challenges and opportunities of the labor landscape.

The study thoroughly analyzes the information collected from the gross monthly salaries of more than 95,000 professionals, showed, among other aspects, that this 2019 has been decisive for various markets and industries.

The creation and strengthening of a greater number of technology companies, startups and fintechs, enhance a panorama where opportunities not only exist but also have taken the old labor schemes, practices and trends place.

The study points to an important change in business dynamism, derived from modernization and digitalization, as well as the arrival of new generations to strategic positions, where tactics to improve millennial talent retention and the strategies that have been implemented globally by the leading technology are implented, such as the recent creation of the Chief Happiness Officer position, whose main task is the implementation of plans that ensure well-being within the work teams.

There is a clear trend that continues to gain strength every year, this is technology and digitalization which generates increasing demand for highly specialized profiles for sectors such as Engineering, Finance and Digital Marketing, among others.
