On April 14, Alberto Salas, president of the Confederation of Production and Trade (CPC), presented a report with 109 proposals to improve the country’s productivity. The report is the result of the work done by the Business Commission for Productivity, which surveyed the opinion of over 100 experts and businessmen through nine technical roundtables.

The project is being developed in a discouraging context for the country. The available information leads to the conclusion that productivity’s growth is decreasing in Chile, and that it is no longer a driving force.

The commission set 9 relevant areas with major gaps and the roundtables developed proposals on those areas, which are the following:

  • Development of Human Capital Skills
  • Female, youth and elderly labour participation
  • Making paperwork processing simpler
  • Innovation
  • Digital productivity
  • Operational Excellency
  • Energy
  • Infrastructure
  • Supply chain

Local businessmen are making the commitment of becoming a key actor to improve productivity by implementing action plans. Furthermore, they expect to become strategic allies for analysing legal, regulatory and management changes in order to enhance productivity.
