Bumeran has just launched an innovative app for its website specialized on IT profiles.

Finding someone who shares your same interests in a simple and quick way, using a cell phone is not only an option for emotional relationships, as it can also be a useful tool in the world of work.

Using the Tinder model, Bumeran.com has created an app for its IT specialized website, UniversoBit, which aims to connect IT professionals with companies.

“In the labour market, there are more jobseekers than companies offering jobs. It is a structural matter. However, in the technology industry, the situation is the opposite. We consider IT specialists as passive job seekers, who are not actively looking for a job but who receive multiple job offers. We are trying to innovate”, explained Federico Villa, country manager of Bumeran.com Argentina during the launching on the application.

In this particular segment of the labour market, the dynamic is different: “companies tell us about the time and money they invest to access IT candidates. And IT professionals tell us that they find constant job offerings to be invasive”, added Villa.

The app has a series of filters that enable candidates to reduce the amount of propositions received and to choose the most attractive offers according to their career goals.

“The force is with those who want to hear proposals. They are people who are not actively looking for a job, hence they are not motivated to provide lots of data. Therefore, basic information of the person is taken from LinkedIn and other data, such as minimum salary expected, are added”, described Daniel Nader, Project Leader at Navent, a company that controls Bumeran.com and other similar websites in Latin America. Navent has become one of the most important global players in this industry due to its expansion in our region.

The local technology market includes 4.500 companies, out of which 75% have up to 10 employees.

The platform, specially directed towards professionals in the industry, has 1700 companies posting approximately 16.000 job offers per year and 180.000 professionals in the database.

“Argentina is an important market due to its capacity for innovation and its size. We want to be really disruptive because it is a very valuable market niche”, pointed out Villa.

The app, which is already available to be downloaded, has been thought as a free tool. “We want to create value, and later on we will evaluate how we can monetize it. The goal is to innovate”, said Villa.

Bumeran.com was founded by two Argentinian entrepreneurs in 1999 and has become the number 1 local online job board. After being owned by Terra, from Grupo Telefonica, for a few years, Bumeran founders bought it back. Currently, the company has 300 employees and owns offices in 7 countries. Having around 11.6 million visitors, it publishes 60.000 job offers per month.
