eMerge Americas, the technological annual event developed in Miami that links Latin America, North America and Europe, announced the appointment, starting on June 11th, of  Felice Gorordo as new executive director and of Melissa Medina, who up to now was executive vice-president, as president.

The current CEO, Xavier González, will join the Cyxtera Technologies team, according to a statement issued by eMerge Americas.

Gorordo “has over 15 years of entrepreneurial and leadership experience at eMerge Americas”, according to Manuel D. Medina, founder, president and CEO of Cyxtera Technologies.

The new CEO was part of the first Board of Directors and the Advisory Council on Content of eMerge, but also led the global expansion of StartUp Health, was CEO of Clearpath and L1BRE, and worked at the White House during the presidencies of  George W. Bush (2001-2009) and Barack Obama (2009-2017).

He is one of the co-founders of Roots of Hope, a nonprofit organizations that works to empower young people in Cuba through the use of technology and entrepreneurship. He was also an advisor at the Initiative against Cancer of former vice-president Joseph Biden and a key member of the Beeck Center of Social Innovation and Impact of the University of Georgetown.

“I certainly know that eMerge can be a trigger to transform and innovate through the South of Florida and the Americas” said Gorordo in the statement.

Melissa Medina, daughter of Manuel D. Medina and member of the leadership team at eMerge Americas from its early starts, used to handle content and business development at the event.

The 2018 edition of eMerge Americas, developed in April in Miami, was attended by over 15,000 people, a figure that eMerge Americas 2019 expects to beat on April 29 and 30th 2019.
