Global experts in education, innovation and EdTech will meet from October 3rd to 5th in Madrid at the EnlightED, an event developed as part of the South Summit 2018 with the goal of promoting a debate on education during the digital era.
Keynote speakers include: Sir Ken Robinson, global expert on education and creativity; Barbara Oakley, scientist specialized on neuroscience from the University of Oakland; Jonathan Zittrain, expert on transformation and techonology from the University of Harvard; Maysa Jalbout, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education; and futurist and humanist Gerd Leonhard.
These experts will analyse issues such as the transformation that technology has generated in education, the opportunities that it provides to enable access, and the improvements in learning, and the challenges of the EdTech, among others.
In addition, EnlightED will organize roundtables and conferences with business leaders, academics, innovators, students and futurists to debate on new learning opportunities and the development of the EdTech world, as well as on suggestions to make it possible for anyone to participate in the digital society.
EnlightED will be developed simultaneously to the South Summit 2018 in La Nave, Madrid. Those attending any of the events will be able to participate in the proposals and access the content of both summits.
EnlightED has also open a call to award the top 10 international startups in the sector, regardless their level of development. The startups selected will be among the finalists of the South Summit and have the chance of having their own stand during the event, increasing their visibility, access to training, meetings with potential investors, or with corporations looking for innovation and mentoring.
Those entrepreneurs who are interested in joining the competition can enroll until August 17th. Moreover, those startups that make it to the final will travel to Madrid to present their projects and will be able to choose among the ‘enlightED Awards’, which include three awards: “Best Startup in Superior Education” from the IE University, ‘Startup with the greatest social impact on education” of Fundación Telefónica and ‘Startup with best technological solution for learning and training” of Wayra.
The criteria to choose the finalist projects include innovation, viability, scalability, team’s profile, and capacity to attract investments. The selection committee will include an international network of investors, entrepreneurs, and experts in different industries.
Winners will be able to access the Edtech IE Rockets startups accelerator; the international entrepreneurship network of Wayra; the entire investment system of South Summit and the chance of working together with their partners and collaborators.
