According to Manpower’s traditional survey, Costa Rica will lead employment creation in the region with 14%.

Right after Costa Rica, Colombia and Panama are tied with 13%, followed by Mexico (10%), Guatemala and Peru (8%).

Argentina (5%) and Brazil (-3%) are below the countries already mentioned.

The factors that have helped Costa Rica to pick in comparison to the previous quarter (10% and number five in the region) are that major infrastructure works have been started, such as the new harbour in Limon and several roads.

Costa Rica’s performance is very interesting as a year ago there were negative expectations.

Panama, which during the last quarter was number one with 18%, has fallen 5%. Nevertheless its’ current numbers in 13% are very good.

Manpower surveys almost 60.000 businessmen in 42 countries. On a global level Taiwan is number one once again (42%), followed by India (37%) and Japan (32%), so the top three remain the same than in the previous quarter.

The United States is number four (16%), having climbed four positions, and tied with Hong Kong, while Costa Rica shares the same numbers than Turkey (14%) and Panama than Colombia, China and Singapore (13%).

On the negative end are Italy (-4%), Brazil (-3%), Spain and Austria (1%).
