Conecta Empleo, the Program of Digital Training and Entrepreneurship of Fundación Telefónica, seeks to increase the employment opportunities for young people in Europe and Latin America.

For years, Fundación Telefónica has been betting on granting new opportunities for young people so that they are better prepared to face their personal and professional future. It connects young people with the new labour market reality, the so called “new employability”, the new professions of the technology industry that are been defined today and will be in greater demand in the future, including cybersecurity, big data, videogames developers, mobile and web apps, etc.

The new development agenda set on “The Goals for Sustainable Development”, with 17 objectives and 169 goals is an urging challenge to prevent anyone from being left behind. Fundación Telefónica has made a commitment with this global agenda through its employability programs and projects, following goal 8^th: promoting constant, inclusive and sustainable economic growth; and goal 17^th: encouraging the development of efficient alliances in the public, public-private, and civil society, seizing the experience and resources gathering strategies of these institutions.

The initiative contributes to the development of digital skills, transversal competences, and fosters entrepreneurship so that young people can make their dreams come true and have a better future. With Conecta Empleo, companies also play a key role. Fundación Telefónica works closely with companies to set the contents to be taught, and so that young people may develop real projects or become apprentices, building bridges that enable youth to access the labor market.

By the end of 2018, Fundación Telefónica through its program Conecta Empleo, will have trained a million youngsters in Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Mexico.
