January is a rather particular month in Latin America and even more so in South America. In some countries, it is the months of holidays par excellence, in others it is the month right in between the festivities and vacations. In any case, it is the first month of the year and it holds a great opportunity to focus energy

In almost every country, it starts slowly as the needs of the year are been defined, and it ends up with a really tight agenda due to the rush to make up for lost time during the festivities. This feeling is experienced by almost every entrepreneur who offers services.

Here there are a few tips for them. January can be a really productive month and set the trend for the rest of the year:

A month to think. New ideas require special moments. If you think about something new that could help a client, suggest it to him. If he still is not a client, but a strategic prospect, also suggest it to him! You can’t lose anything by suggesting it and you might get hired to make that idea come true. If you do not get hired, knowing that someone else is thinking about you is always a good feeling.

And to look for new opportunities. Constantly. Relentlessly. Everywhere. A new client per week. From January till the end of the year. It sounds good.

Adjusting the strategy.  New opportunities may come, and you might say yes by impulse, but in the long term they may damage your business. These projects will take time away from what you are really good at. Being focused is important to avoid losing clients. In some cases, saying no in the short term might rather profitable in the future.
