The International Confederation of Private Employment Services (Ciett) has welcomed a statement from the G20 leaders confirming that employment and job creation remain at the centre of the G20 agenda.
At the G20 Summit, hosted by the Australian Presidency in Brisbane last weekend, the G20 Leaders committed to taking appropriate policy measures to stimulate growth to help create millions of quality jobs.
Additionally, the G20 Leaders want to increase female labour force participation rates; ensure that young people are in employment, education, or training; and tackle job informality.
Ciett welcomed the statement and stressed that the employment and recruitment industry can help achieve these ambitious targets.
According to Ciett, the employment and recruitment industry is a portal to the world of work; through which companies and jobseekers can rely on a network of over 200,000 branches worldwide to enable the quick and effective matching of talent with available job opportunities.
Each year, the employment and recruitment industry:
- Supports 36 million people in their job life;
- Helps 12.9 million young people enter the labour market;
- Up-skills 8.3 million people, giving them more work choices;
- Creates 3.1 million more jobs;
- Serves 2.3 million companies with the right talents to succeed.
Ciett is confident that these contributions can help the G20 goals and the G20 Leaders should take advantage of the employment and recruitment industry to improve the functioning and the resilience of labour markets.
