Starting on September 1st, Carmen Moreno is the new director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for Central America, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, with headquarters in Costa Rica.

Moreno, who has been working with ILO since 1996, is a Spanish doctor and surgeon, specialized in family and community medicine.

Before becoming part of ILO, she worked for the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) as general coordinator of the Spanish Cooperation Office in Panama.

As regards her work in ILO, she has been coordinator of the Program on the Elimination of Child Labour for Central America, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Haiti and Belize.

Moreno has also been a regional specialist on Child Labour and Employment and the regional programming chief of ILO’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition she has been regional deputy manager for the support of Management and Administration of ILO’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.
