According to a report by Paula Krizanovic for Iprofesional, a training program for this age group, which is excluded from 90% of job searches, will be officially launched after a pilot test develop during 2017.
The Ministry of the Government of Buenos Aires City, through the Secretariat of Labour, Industry and Commerce, will be launching the program of professional reinsertion for adults older than 45 years old.
The program is called “Active Experience”, and includes a number of group workshops with technical and emotional tools, to improve the employability conditions of this age group.
According to data from the Civil Association Diagonal, 90% of job posts are for people below 45 years old, or, in other words, for those who are between 25 and 35 years old, as younger people also face problems when trying to get their first job.
The result is that people who still have a working age have fewer possibilities of getting a job.
“Diagonal has been training middle age adults who need to go back to the labour market for 17 years, and this percentage has never changed”, said Gabriela Halperín, executive director of the association.
Being aware of this situation, and considering that the working life is about to grow longer (due to the project of reform of the pension system), back in 2016 the Ministry of Modernization, Innovation and Technology got in touch with Diagonal to design initiatives for this age group.
During 2017 both entities signed an agreement to deliver trainings in key technical tools such as developing a resume, creating a network, interviews’ role-playing, new ways to look for a job, etc.
