Argentina’s newly-elected President Mauricio Macri has promised to bring investment back in the country and place it back among the international markets.
Over 40 fashion and retail brands that already operate in countries such as Chile, Brazil and Mexico, have started negotiations to settle in Argentina.
“The large brands know that once the situation goes back to normal, Buenos Aires can sell even more than Santiago de Chile or Bogota”, Marcelo Zuliani, Commercial Director of Colliers, reports Staffingamericalatina, business partner of Staffing Industry Analysts.
“The Italian government will be sending in the next few days people to make investments in Argentina”, said Arturo Curatola, VP of the Italian Chamber of Trade in Argentina.
The automotive industry is also making moves with Fiat announcing investments for its plant in Cordoba; GM for its plant in Rosario, and Ford for its plant in the outskirts of Buenos Aires.
As far as the agricultural sector is concerned, a number of announcements were made and they were very welcomed by producers, who estimate a strong growth of wheat, corn and meat production. “I am betting on the capacity this country has to grow and double agricultural production”, Macri said in an announcement.
“There are extremely interesting projects with this new administration, such as the goal of being able to incorporate a new company in just one day,” Martín Padulla, Managing Director of Staffingamericalatina, said. “A clear tendency towards efficiency and modernization can be perceived, which will have a very positive effect on the labour market and the business world.”
“Argentina must become once again an attractive market for the staffing and BPO industry in the region. The potential this change provides is very important”, Padulla said.
