Peruvian Chancellor, Gonzalo Gutiérrez and International Labour Organization’s Regional Director, Elizabeth Tinoco, subscribed today an agreement to do the XVIII American Regional Meeting, which shall take place in Lima from the 13th to the 16th of October 2014.
Through such agreement, Peru and the ILO made a commitment to collaborate in the arrangements and performance of the event, as well as in any complementary meetings and activities.
Every four years, the American Regional Meeting gathers labour ministers and vice-ministers from Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States and Canada; as well as high level public servants, regional employers and workers’ representatives; and delegations of observers of different countries.
The Foreign Relationships Ministry has informed that this year the appointment will grant special attention to progresses reached by these countries during the past four years as regards the “Decent Employment Program” and the main regional challenges to maintain socially inclusive growth models.
Furthermore, it shall particularly address the issue on “The Americas against the XXI century challenges: full, productive and decent employment”, which will be developed in the report to be presented during the meeting by ILO’s General Director.
