Ten Argentinian public university students took off to China as part of Seeds for the Future, a global education program developed by Huawei for the first time in this country, together with the National Ministry of Modernization.

The students (eight men and two women) will be in China for two weeks and visit Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. They will learn about traditional Chinese culture, attend classes on Information and Communication Technologies at Huawei’s Headquarters, and visit the company’s labs, together with students from other countries.

During an event organized at the company’s offices to present the programs and wish farewell to the students, Tiger Wei, CEO of Huawei in Argentina, pointed out that 90 countries have already participated in Seeds for the Future, and said he is confident that the number will continue to grow next year. “We place our hopes on the students selected; they will be the basis of the development of the industry in the future”, he said.

In addition, Hector Huici, secretary of Information and Communications Technologies at the National Ministry of Modernization, said: “The Ministry is pleased to present this program for the first time in Argentina together with Huawei. It is important for the country because we need more professionals coming from technical areas, we need more engineers, more scientists, and more technicians. It is an excellent opportunity for young people to be trained in a nation and a company that are on the cutting edge of information and communication technologies.

Young people selected are between 23 and 27 years old, and they are studying Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Computer Engineering. They are Gonzalo Etcheverrigaray (UTN Santa Fe); Ignacio Vidal Pizarro (Aeronautic University Institute, Cordoba); Virginia García Sánchez (National Defense University –  Regional University Centre, Córdoba); Juan Revelante Soriano (Aeronautic University Institute, Cordoba); Ariane Zain Rafael Almendra (National University, Córdoba); Juan Manuel Consoli (National University of Tucuman); David Duarte (National University Arturo Jauretche, Buenos Aires); Damián Pedraza (National University of La Plata, Buenos Aires); Christian Osvaldo Vionnet (National University of Tucuman); Federico Interlandi Zoireff (National University of Tucuman).

The program Seeds for the Future was started in 2008 and it has trained over 30,000 university students from 96 countries to this date. It seeks to develop local talent, strengthen the transference of knowledge and improve the use and understanding of people in the industry of telecommunications. It also aims at encouraging communities from all over the world to take part in the construction of a digital society.
