A ranking that evaluates the performance of 40 countries, developed by the consulting firm Ernst & Young was published. Chile and Mexico lead the regional ranking. Green jobs opportunities.
The development opportunities of the renewable energies sector in Argentina are number 12th in a ranking that analyses the performance of 40 countries, developed by the international consulting firm, Ernst & Young (E&Y).
This shows an improvement in the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index, when compared to previous analysis, even though in the region it falls behind Chile (N°6) and Mexico (N°9). Clearly, the three countries have green jobs opportunities and challenges when it comes to training adequate profiles.
The countries in the global top three are China, India and the United States. However, in there is a “significant change” in the USA considering the policies of Donald Trump “have led to the disappearance of the Clean Energy Plan, which has made renewable investors more nervous about the possible tax credit reduction in investment and production tax credit”.
Concerns on this regard in the US are also linked to the continuity of the low gas prices and the halted transmission capacity.
The top 10 countries of the Index also include Germany (4th place), Australia (5th place after a year of record investments), Japan (7th), France (8th), and the United Kingdom (10th).
Brazil is number 15th, with a downward trend, due to the cancelation of the wind and solar auction A-3, on December 2016, which “shows the effect of a strong drop in the energy demand of the country, a result from the serious economic slowdown and political instability”, according to the survey.
