On December 2nd, the Argentinian National Institute of Technical Education (INET) organized its last debate of the year, developed by Gabriel Sánchez Zinny, executive director of INET, and Martin Padulla, managing director of de staffingamericalatina.

Together, they presented the report “Youth Employment and Informality in Argentina”, developed by Adecco and staffingamericalatina.

Attendants to the event came from different sectors. Manpower, Itaú, Nidera, AEA, Siemens, the Chamber of Tourism, from the business sector; REciduca, Fundación Oficios, from the civil organizations’ sector; trade unions such as Ctera; plus teachers and representatives from different government areas.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, mostly linked to the number of unemployed youngsters and school dropouts, and how to tackle this situation by articulating education and labor.

Martin Padulla stated that “in order to reduce school dropouts we must create human capital, develop talent and work on retaining it”. Furthermore, “we must be able to prospect medium-term skills and design pertinent education and training supplies”.

Gabriel Sanchez Zinny mentioned different actions developed by INET to increase the number of school’s graduations: the program of tutors, students’ encounters, and the development of soft skills among students.

In addition, the attendants exchanged opinions on the important of professional practices, the link with the productive sector and teachers’ training, among other topics.
