Every year, the Peruvian labor market demands 309,695 technical workers. However, only 107,469 technicians graduate from school each year. In other words, there are around 202,226 job vacancies that cannot be filled due to the lack of qualified staff.
This fact was reported by Jorge Chavez, academic manager of the National Service of Industrial Workforce Training (SENATI), who pointed out that these job vacancies are found in the sectors of technology, manufacture and industry.
In the area of information security alone, Latin America has a deficit of 449,000 employees. In Peru, 91% of the companies are investing in the development of cybersecurity teams and, according to estimations, by 2019 there will be a demand of 16,192 professionals in the area. In addition, the industrial sector demands 3,000 industrial chemists every year.
SENATI announced its three new courses of study: information security, Industrial Chemistry and Industrial Security and Risks Prevention, in order to satisfy the demand expected during the years to come.
