Yesterday, during the traditional year-end meeting developed in Buenos Aires by the association that gathers staffing firms in the country, Ricardo Wachowicz mentioned the priorities of the upcoming year.
Wachowicz said “I am strongly convinced that we can make a far greater and transcending contribution to the economic and social progress of our country”.
Based on his deep conviction in concepts enunciated by the President of the Nation, Engineer Mauricio Macri, during the opening of the celebration for the 92 anniversary of the Argentinian Chamber of Commerce.
The first quote of President Macri used by the President of FAETT was the following:
“We must leave behind a State that sets obstacles, and replace it with a State that promotes”
Wachowicz granted the following definition to the audience “the President understands that every activity of the formal economy that promotes a growth of employment in Argentina must be supported. Around 300 thousand youngsters hope to get a job every year. 6 out of 10 employed youngsters have an informal job in our country. We can definitely be the facilitators of formal labor trajectories for our youth. Today, we are the main entrance door to the formal labour market and we can increase our contribution as guarantors of the transitions towards youth decent work.”
He then referred to the following statement of the Argentinian President
“We must reduce the number of labor litigations and focus on quality employment”
The President of FAETT said “we can only fully support the goal of stopping this kind of conflicts, which do not only cause the retraction of the employment industry, but also discourages productive capitals’ investments that create the jobs we need so much. The future of work is already among us, the jobs of the future have not been distributed yet and Argentina has a major opportunity. One by one we must bring down the barriers that set us apart from the possibility of development”.
In addition, he referred to another concept mentioned by the President of the Republic at the Chamber of Commerce: “We must understand that globalization and technology are transforming our cultural, social and labor reality”.
Wachowicz claimed that “undoubtedly, the World is going through a major transformation, more volatile economic cycles, changes in the ways of doing business…, we need to adapt quickly to these changes. We are a formal, compliant and professional tool that can help companies adapt to change”.
Finally, he talked about the following quote of Mauricio Macri “We must seat down all together around the dialogue table to solve our problems”.
The President of FAETT concluded that “social dialogue is the only path to trace the Argentina of development, we must all make efforts to provide the answers our society needs. In the world of work, as an employers’ organizations, we follow the guidelines of ILO and intend to have a very active role in the social dialogue table as formal employers in a country that must beat the scourge of informality.”
Furthermore, he referred to the relationship between education and labor, addressing the topic of employability: “there is a gap between the skills provided by the educational system and the ones demanded by the labor market. The speed of educational contents’ renewal will never be able to keep up with the speed of changes in the economy and labor markets. Greater commitment from every social actor linked to the labor world is needed in order to strengthen our youth and facilitate their access to the formal labor market.
Our demographic bonus demands such commitment. We know that we can play a key role if we ratify ILO Convention 181 on Private Employment Agencies. We could work together with public employment services providing skills’ training based on the demand and increasing job placements among youth and vulnerable people. We want to replicate successful cases of the most modern, dynamic and formal markets of the world.”
Ricardo Wachowicz finished his message in an emphatic way: “we know we are part of the solution and not of the problem, and we want to contribute to the construction of a more dynamic, modern and inclusive country.”
The staffing industry in Argentina seems to be ready to occupy a transcending role in tackling informality, youth unemployment and providing more opportunities of decent work in the entire country.
