In order to improve young people’s employability in Piura, five institutes of agro industrial professional education will implement a Dual System during the next year in the context of the convention signed between the Regional Government of Piura and the German-Peruvian Chamber of Trade and Industry.
The director of the Executive Unit of the Regional Superior Public Education Institutes of Piura, Víctor Agüero Bernuy pointed out that “… as a region, we are the pioneers in initiating a Dual System process. This pilot experience will be useful to involve, in a national level, many other actors and beneficiaries to improve educational quality and dual systems, that include parents, students and businessmen”.
Currently we are on the initial phase, where “we are visualising the reach this model has and how is it developed in Germany. We need to have full knowledge of the system and its’ actors, including the involvement of students, teachers, supervisors and private companies, to attend the labour market.”
The project will begin with one hundred students that follow agro-industrial studies. In addition, the families of these students will be benefited as well as 8 teachers per institute -40 directors and teachers-. Moreover, by 2016 it is expected that every career taught in these institutes will be involved in the program.
The initial phase of the project is planned from this month until December and its main target is to involve teachers, public, parents and businessmen. This is the base on which the dual system will start during the first semester of 2015.
The presentation of the project was done in Ignacio Merino Art School, with the attendance of the Director of Professional Formation and Labour Training of the Peruvian-German Chamber, Giselle Arciniega; the Representative of the German Chamber, Harald Steffen and Representatives of the regional offices of Education and Labour.
