The world is evolving, and will continue to do so. This means that, as the world continues to change, so will jobs and the criteria that sets the ideal candidate. According to an article written by Amanda Wilks and published by Switch and Shift, there are the 5 skills that employers will strongly look for in the years to come.

Wilks establishes that these 5 skills are the following:

  • Sense-making: it is basically defined as “the ability to determine the deeper meaning behind something given”. This skill is what enables us to connect the dots and create.
  • Cross-cultural competency: a clear result of the growing globalization that the world is experiencing. Adapting to different cultures, speaking several languages, and knowing how to handle cultural differences are key competences to acquire.
  • Cognitive load management: it consists on filtering, adapting and setting priorities among multiple tasks.
  • Novel and adaptive thinking: it refers to the ability to produce innovative solutions and ideas.
  • Social intelligence: being able to understand other people’s goal, ideas, motivations, which may differ from your own, and finding the way to align them to yours. This includes clients, employers or employees.

In order to prepare for the future, training and developing these skills might be decisive.
