Arcos Dorados (NYSE: ARCO), the largest fast food chain in Latin American and McDonald’s most important franchise in the world, announced the appointment of Sergio Alonso, 52 years old, as the new Chief Executive Officer, to be effective from October 1st on. Alonso will follow the current president and CEO, Woods Staton, 65 years old, who will be appointed as Executive President.
“Sergio has been part of McDonald’s for almost 30 years, and has developed a great career achieving operational and financial improvements that were key for McDonald’s long term strategy and that provided great value for shareholders. We have been colleagues in building Arcos Dorados and I am confident that we his strong leadership we shall keep on capitalizing great opportunities of McDonald’s brand in Latin America” said Woods Staton.
Staton added that: “Working side by side for all these years, Sergio and I have built a strong personal and professional relationship that will secure a calm transition of Arcos Dorados’ management. Sergio is a valuable executive and I know he is the right leader to keep on moving our company forward. Even though I will be putting my daily responsibilities aside, as Executive President I shall remain focused on leading Arcos Dorados to long term success.”

Sergio Alonso has been Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Arcos Dorados since 2007, the same year in which the Company became McDonald’s largest franchise in the world, with operations in 20 countries.
