Red, the firm specialized in digital cameras, is already preparing its launch. It is a device with a 5.7 inches screen, which is made with nanotechnology materials.
Red put out the following phrase “the world’s first holographic media machine, in your pocket”.
The smartphone Hydrogen One, will have a 5.7 inches display, built through nanotechnology that enable watching highest resolution content in 2D, 3D and holographic, without using additional equipment, such as glasses.
The device will use Android and it will be available in two versions: one in aluminum (costing USD 1,195) and one built in titanium (USD 1,595).
The device will also serve as a management central of the Hydrogen system, to operate Red camera models such as Weapon, Epic and Scarlet.
Even though it is been advertised as the first holographic screen phone, there are two devices with this characteristic: the takee 1, launched in 2015, was the first to add this technology; and Holoflex, launched in May 2016, which was a mobile device developed by the research lab of the University of Queens.
It seems that Hydrogen One will be different. Red’s founder, Jim Jannard, said that, in order to understand how the device works, you must see it in person. But, we will have to wait until the first quarter of 2018, which is when the device will become available for purchase. For the time being, only a render has been shown.
The cellphone will have multidimensional sound, USB C port, a MicroSD slot, and will be compatible with modules that shall enable adding different functions to the device.
