Mexico has developed productive meetings with the OECD, Canada, and Argentina during the Meeting of Labor and Employment Ministries of the G20 in Germany
The secretary of Labor and Social Security, Alfonso Navarrete Prida, and the general secretary of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), José Ángel Gurría, have agreed to promote digital skills, among other actions that aim at improving the quality of employment in Mexico.
During the encounter that occurred at the Meeting of Labor and Employment Ministries of the G20, developed in the German city of Bad Neuenahr, they highlighted the importance of the High Level Political Forum on the New Employment Strategy, to be developed in Berlin, Germany, on June 13th.
In that OECD forum, the advances made by countries to address the challenges of technological change and the future of work shall be analyzed.
According to a statement from the Secretary of Labor, Navarrete Prida invited José Ángel Gurría to the Regional Tripartite Meeting on Labor Migrations, to be developed by the Mexican organization together with the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Mexico.
The public servant considers essential the participation of the OECD in the international debate on the placement of migrants y labor markets and the socioeconomic benefits of this process, particularly in Latin America.
In addition, Navarrete Prida met with the Canadian minister of Employment, Labor Development and Work, Patricia Hajdu, and they agreed on the importance of continuing the promotion of the Program of Temporary Agricultural Workers (PTAT), which has been working between both countries since 1974 and is an international labor cooperation model that enables a legal, secure and organized migratory labor flow
During another meeting, the Mexican secretary and the Argentinian minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Jorge Triaca, made public their intention to establish a technical cooperation agreement to exchange information on labor relations, active employment policies and strengthening technical cooperation.
They explained that this convention is in its final approval stage, and could be subscribed during the ILO Regional Meeting on Labor Migrations.
