The Mexican Human Capital Companies’ Association (AMECH) named Laura Obregon as president for the period 2015-2017. Obregón will be replacing Armando Lereño who was president of AMECH until the end of 2014.
Laura Obregón, who has a lawyer’s degree from the University Panamericana, is General Director in Technicon, a Mexican company that provides Human Capital services, and which has been associated to AMECH since 2008.
The goal Obregón will pursue is to promote the development and regularization of outsourcing to encourage economic development and competitiveness in Mexico.
Among AMECH associates, Adecco, ManpowerGroup, PAE, Randstad and Adsourcing stand out.
In an event presided over by Rafael Avante, undersecretary of Labour and Social Security, Carlos Angulo, deputy of Acción Nacional, and directors of companies associated to AMECH, the potential of outsourcing in Mexico was confirmed. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), outsourcing went from 13.6% in 2009 to 16.0% in 2014 and had an impact of 49.5% in financial services, 24.0% in trade, 18.3% in manufacture and 8.2% in every other sector.
The undersecretary stated that the alliance between AMECH and the STPS is focused on achieving three goals: to bring light into the regulatory framework; to legitimate human capital and; to promote the regularization of informal workers and employers.
“It is important to legalise, not only because it means respecting basic rights of workers, but because it promotes a legal culture in the country and eliminates incentives and perverse barriers that affect us all. By supporting formality, we shall achieve this goal”, said Avante.
