The technological giant Google has launched a “challenge” to award scholarships for USD 25 million to NGOs, corporations and academic institutions from all around the world that are developing projects that use Artificial Intelligence for a social purpose.
Through Google.org, the company opened the call for the “Google Impact Challenge for AI”,which is looking for initiatives that range from environmental protection to social affairs.
This edition’s award about USD 25 million in scholarships, includes access to resources such as credit in Google Cloud, and training sessions guided by Google AI professionals and engineers.
An international group of experts in computer sciences, social development and media will choose the best proposals during the first months of 2019.
Google expects high levels of participation from regions such as Latin America, which would provide an opportunity to “acknowledge those projects that aim at solving the complex problems” that emerge in their social context.
