Certain specialists claim that Generation Z gathers the best of each previous generation and promotes a new working model that seeks greater stability and long term duration. Knowing how to seize the strong points of this generation will enable companies to survive the changing cycle, with a new way of thinking based on technology and its multiple opportunities.

After Baby Boomers, Generation X and Millennials, a new generation is entering the business world to change things, such as the vision we have of employees and work.

Generation Z includes people born between 1995 and 2005 who do not conceive a world with no technology.

A characteristic of these people is that they work in a collaborative way in order to achieve great success, according to INC.

If Millennials were “beta” testers of technology, Gen Z are the ones who have taken technology to the next level via hyper-connectivity and collaboration promote innovation and change.

A new approach states that the employee who exhibits these features can enter into this generation, regardless whether they are 22 or 52 years old.

Generation Z is in the core of the future of work and has more power than any previous generation to redefine the way we work and to shape the future of business.

  • Breaking generations. Instead of placing employees in “generational boxes”, we must take the best characteristics of each generation and put them together in a certain environment in order to create a team.
  • Hyper-connectivity. With the power of the Internet, everybody has access to the same information. In other words, anyone can learn and develop skills.   • Change in the elements of influence. Money used to mean power, but, as time went by, the most powerful way to have an influence is having a strong personal brand. The development of skills and knowledge enables influencing on other people without depending on a resume or regardless of the socioeconomic level.
  • New ways of working. Nowadays processes can be changed and traditional rules can be broken in order to get great results. A clear example is the amazing popularity of crowdfunding, were you can straightly go to potential clients to build relationships and raise money.
  • Slingshoting. Modern technology enables almost everyone to adopt new practices and electronic devices at any time. Even though some people are impulsive and go for the latest model, other less consumer attitudes are starting to triumph that expect to value the results of other users’ experiences.
  • Adapting the world to ourselves. The vast amount of available information and the proliferation of official online courses means that it has never been easier and cheaper to access knowledge. The future of work will depend on seizing that knowledge and teaching people how to learn.
