According to the agency Invest in Bogota, the Dutch company Rockstart created the program “Web & Mobile” to promote innovative initiatives in Colombia and contribute to turn the country into a “startups hub for Latin America”.
Rockstart, a Dutch company, arrived at Bogota on October 2017 and, since then, has been promoting companies based on the use of new technologies via “Web & Mobile”.
The chosen companies receive financial capital, specialized advice, workspaces, and a network of potential allies to promote their growth as fast as possible.
The companies that are part of “Web & Mobile” work with sectors linked to the “share economy, business software and the cloud”, as well as with “recruiting platforms”, among others.
The Dutch company chose the Colombian capital among cities from 20 different countries to implement this program.
The initiative also aims at luring foreign investments as “there is a growing number of investors who are attracted to the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem”, said Rockstart’s director, Felipe Santamaría.
Rockstart has already attracted seven European investors and enable companies to grow an average of 13% per week.
Juan Gabriel Perez, executive director of Invest in Bogota, pointed out that “Bogotá is characterized by being an entrepreneurial city” and this is complemented with “qualified and bilingual human capital, strengths that make the city one of the largest business center in Latin America”.
One of the startups promoted by Rockstart is Queo, a firm that “commercializes parking lots in areas in Bogota where there is a high demand and a limited offer”. Rockstart was born in 2011 in Amsterdam and has operations in 15 countries.
