In Costa Rica, Uber demands a flexible, differentiating and innovative regulation, as well as to be part of the task forces that design regulatory policies for digital transport platforms.
“We are confident that government authorities will value and consider the opinion of over 783,000 Costa Ricans who have chosen new options to move around, as well as the opinion of over 22,000 partners who find in Uber an opportunity of self-employment and who currently trust in this platform to move reach their goals”, said Andrés Echandi, General Manager for Uber in Central America.
The company states that the government must consider and focus on the interests of the population. Over 783,000 people prefer this platform when moving around.
“For 66% of partners, Uber is their main source of income. In the case of female partners, around 47% used to have no other source of income, and 86% generate a stable income for their families”, said Echandi.
Most users are women, and they say they use the app not only to save money but for security reasons.
The platform developed a document where it suggests seven measures to strengthen security for both, users and collaborators.
