According to a report published by Reuters, Colombia will create 700.000 new jobs during 2015 in a strategy that links the public and private sectors.
The announcement was made by President Juan Manuel Santos, who seeks to keep unemployment in the lowest level of the past two decades.
On February, urban unemployment went down to 10% from a previous rate of 11.2%, while general unemployment was around 9.9%, almost one point below the rate of the same month in 2014.
2.33 million unemployed workers were reported in February in the country, which has an entire population of 48 million inhabitants, including 1.16 million living in urban areas.
Santos explained that 300.000 new jobs will be created by the trade and tourism sector, 105.000 by industry and the remaining jobs shall be created by the construction sector and the programs of social investment developed by the Government.
