A report developed by Hays and Oxford Economics focuses on the trends that impact on skilled labour markets.

The survey compares labour markets from 33 countries showing how easy or hard it is to find qualified human capital according to the needs of companies.

Chile was no. 22 among the 33 economies analyzed. The report shows there are 50% chances that a job search can be filled with a workers that is fitted for the job.

Even though the survey provides a top score of 10, not a single country in the analysis reached such score. Luxemburg and Sweden were the top countries, with a 6.7 score. Denmark and Colombia (6.4) were next, which represents a major accomplishment for the Latin American country. Germany and Spain (6.3) are the countries that complete the top 6.

One of the recommendations the report makes for Chile is to remove the barriers that prevent companies from accessing qualified foreign workers.

The Hays Index is very interesting as it reflects the tensions of the labour market, including unbalances in the workforce.
