Steve Wozniak, cofounder of Apple Inc., announced the launching of Woz U, his online education institution.

Woz U has the goal of training people with highly demanded technological skills, working to reduce the existing skills gap. In addition, it will provide solutions for companies so that they hire Woz U graduates, as well as business training solutions.

Based in Arizona, the projects expects to inaugurate 30 more institutes in the United States and in other countries of the world.

The current program seeks to train specialists in IT support and software developers, though in the future it will provide courses on information sciences, mobile apps, and cybersecurity.

Woz U will also have other learning and training solutions, including solutions focused on technological companies, so that they can recruit or even train people. It will also offer subscribing to the program or customized programs.

Another solution shall focus on non-university students, focusing on school districts with STEAM programs to identify potential talents and encourage them to pursue technological careers.

Furthermore, Woz U will launch an acceleration program to identify and develop elite technological talent. An app will enable users to learn about technological fields that are better for them.
