The Pacific Alliance has announced a new Innovation Agency, which’s goal is to develop every innovation project in the region that has a common background”, and to prevent that each process is channelled through different institutions, explained Alejandro Buvinic, national director of ProChile.

During the development of Lab4+ in Chile, the 5th Entrepreneurship and Innovation Summit of the Pacific Alliance, it was stated that this agency “is being developed under the wing of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)” and that there is no clarity in the legal quality that it will have.

In addition, the Lab4+ addressed new innovation trends, such as the irruption of e-commerce, B companies, and robotics, among others.

Buvinic explained that, currently, innovation has made a change that involves its human side. “A very important topic for Chile is how we are democratizing innovation. This includes two alternatives: the first states that, regardless where you come from, innovation does not belong to the elite, as anyone who has a good project can develop it and make it international. This is what happened with every coworking we have developed in the country, with angel investors, etc. It is a new way to look at the world. The second is that people are thinking about social things, about how we can improve society”.
