América de Cali, one of the most popular football clubs in Colombia, received investments for training and employment. The project “Jugátela por el empleo” (be ton employment) seeks to promote technical training and employment among young people and is developed by the Ministry of Labor, Comfenalco Valle and the club.
On January 13th, in the city of Cali, an agreement was signed between the América de Cali football team, the Ministry of Labor and Comfenalco Valle, which aims to promote technical training and employment among vulnerable young people in the region.
The project aims to create 200 jobs among the members of the Barón Rojo Sur group, to help them access their first job and prevent them from becoming part of delinquent acts.
The agreement will have an investment of COP 1.715 million, provide technical training and management to get a job, with the goal of including young people in the labor market.
The main idea is to make it easier for young people to get their first job, said María Fernanda Giraldo, education manager of Comfenalco: “the goal is to make it easier for young people to get their first job. The requisites to participate are to have a high school, technical or professional degree, and no prior experience in the labor market. Not only do we provide a link with the companies that participate in the program, but also train young people, strengthening their skills so they can get their first job”.
Clara Lopez, minister of Labor, attended the event and signed the agreement for employment to become an inclusion mechanism for young members of the Barón Rojo Sur group.
According to the Ministry of Labor, the program will be addressed towards young Cali natives in general, but it will focus on the the Barón Rojo Sur group, as it is a particularly vulnerable population.
