The goal is to expand job placements in the technological sector
The Uruguayan government will train 1,000 people aged 17 to 26 years old for free throughout the country in computer programming. The goal is to expand job placements in the technological sector.
The project, to be implemented on 2017 and to last nine months, will be developed by the Plan Ceibal, a state initiative that provides a laptop to every student in primary school, and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI), according to Presidency.
The project has the objective of expanding the possibilities of job placements in a sector that has a high demand of qualified human resources.
Enrollments where opened on December 21st up to February 28th. Attendants will have to be from 17 to 26 years old and must have completed the third year of Secondary Education or of the University of Work of Uruguay (UTU), and have no prior working experience.
A selection process will be developed among enrolled candidates, which shall end with the assignment of 1,000 available places.
Classes will include theory, practice and workshops, where students will be trained in the three most demanded programming languages of the industry: .Net, Genexus o WebUI and testing. Students will also receive every study material, including a computer that shall be lend to the students during classes.
The courses will be delivered by staff specialized in the Plan Ceibal, and the technical aspects will be taught by leaders of the most important technological companies of the country, either in person or through videoconferences.
The certificate obtained with this training will enable students to apply to jobs as Basic Programmer or Software Tester. It also opens job opportunities in the technology sector or any sector where technology is used to manage an activity of the organization.
