Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey seem to be called to become the main stars of the global economy. After the BRICs, the MINTs have become attractive for investors.

For the investors who abandoned the idea that the BRICs could mantain a growth pace which will allow them to reach the developed countries, the MINT seem to be the new opportunity.

The four countries have had favourable demographies for at least 20 years, an excellent geopolitical location, more open economies and even some extraordinary factors such as oil and raw materials.

However, not everything is so simple. To become the real vedettes of the markets, they must grow at high rates, at least 7%. so far, only Nigeria has grown at those rates. As regards weakness, analysts remark that they are similar to the BRICs´ones: social tensions which affect the business environment, inability to develop a competitive economy in all the sectors and even interferences of the terrorism or religious fundamentalism, especially inTurkey, Indonesia and Nigeria. Mexico still has the difficult of drug trafficking situation.

In spite of this complex complex situation, Mexico is the Latin American  country which attracts more investors. It is carrying out liberal reforms, it is trying to formalize its labour market and has become aware that it is in front of a historical opportunity.

The MINT will have to make efforts when it comes to reduction of corruption, exchange transparency, legal guarantees of contracts and private property and even in the administrative speed to deal with the foreign companies applications, before they become a real interesting opportunity of investment, with a reasonable risk.

A challenge, which seems to be reachable, when we consider what the reward could be.
