After a 3% drop in the sales of the series F vehicles and the slow progress made in the production F-150 in its assembly plant in Kansas City, Ford has announced a cutback plan that leads to the dismissal of nearly 13,000 temporary workers in the United States and Mexico.
Ford Motor Company has decided that during the next few weeks it will suspend the production process in four of its’ plants in the US. The decision will affect the factories the company has in Kansas City, which will stop the production of the F-150 for a week; the Louisville facilities, which will stop the manufacture of the Escape and the Lincoln MKC; and two other plants located in Mexico: Cuautitlán and Hermosillo, the locations where the company produces the models Fiesta, Fusion and Lincoln MKZ.
Therefore, 13,000 temporary workers -9,000 in the US and 4.000 in Mexico- will no longer have their jobs.
