Amadeus announced the appointment of León Herce as new head for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Herce, who used to be Head of Amadeus for Asia-Pacific (APAC), based in Bangkok, will take over the role of leader of the Latin American team on November 1st 2016.
“Latin America is a key region for Amadeus, and, as years go by, we have developed its contribution to the distribution business of the company. I am fully confident on the fact that Leon’s proven leadership, experience, knowledge and enthusiasm will help as continue consolidating our position in the region”, pointed out Holger Taubmann, Senior Vice-President of Distribution, Amadeus IT Group.
León Herce will move to Amadeus offices in Buenos Aires by the end of July, where he will work during the transition of the role with Joost Schuring during August, September and October.
Since he joined Amadeus in 2004, he has developed key roles, including the direction of commercial finances and corporative control. Since 2011 to date, he has been the commercial head of APAC. In this position, he successfully ran Amadeus expansion in South Korea and China, supported India and other markets’ growth, significantly increasing the presence of Amadeus and its market share.
Leon is Spanish and he has a degree on Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Cataluña (Barcelona) and the Supérieure d’Electricité (Paris). He also has a MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
