According to ManpowerGroup’s Employment Outlook Survey, Colombia is the country in Latin America with best hiring intentions (18%) in the 2nd quarter of 2016. Meanwhile, Brazil has the worst forecast in the region with less than 10%.

Hiring intentions in Colombia are expected to rise son as 25% of the 750 employers surveyed claimed they plan to increase their staff, only 6% expect to reduce it and 67% state there will be no changes.

Rosalba Montoya Pereira, director of ManpowerGroup for the South American Andean Region said that the construction sector forecast is still the strongest with four out of every 10 employers in the sector expecting to add to their work forces in the next three months. An active hiring pace is also expected in the Agriculture and Fishing sector, as several crops are requiring staff to bring in the harvests. On the other hand, Mining sector employers are expecting a subdued hiring pace and the Outlook has slipped to a flat 0%.

Employers expect a higher number of contracts in all five Colombian regions. The most optimistic regions are Andes and Pacific (NEE 20%), followed by Amazonas (18 %), Caribbean (11 %) and finally Orinoquía (2 %).
