A new and innovative form of employment is growing: crowd employment. You may have already heard about it, as it also goes by the name of crowdsourcing or crowd work.

The basis of crowd employment is a platform that allows organizations or individuals to connect with an unlimited number of other organizations or individuals in order to solve a certain issue or to provide services or products in exchange for monetary retribution.

Technology is the key element in crowd employment, as outsourcing tasks are organized into a massive pool of online remote workers, who connect with clients, develop tasks and submit results mainly online.

Workers connect with clients in order to develop a certain project or participate in a specific task within that project, and then move on to new projects, instead of having a permanent relationship.

Some examples of the tasks where crowd employment is implemented are:

  • Development of web content and software
  • Building and cleaning database
  • Webpages classifications
  • Transcription of scanned documents and audio files
  • Classifying and tagging images
  • Documents revision
  • Checking out websites for specific content
  • Validating search results
  • Logo design and slogan drafting

Though crowd employment is not useful for every type of task or job, it may be used to develop at list some part of almost every job.
